2008 SHU Fall Classic Round 1 Results in PDF Format Get Acrobat Reader

MILFORD, Conn. (October 26, 2008) - Sacred Heart senior Joanne Martorana (Randolph, NJ) and freshmen Michelle Riber (Stockholm, Sweden) and Carly Bergin (Binghamton, NY) own the top-three spots on the leaderboard leading the Pioneers to the overall lead as hosts of their Fall Classic Tournament at the Great River Golf Club. Sacred Heart posted a team score of 318 to hold a 12-stroke lead on the field heading into Monday's final round.

Martorana shot an opening round 76 at the par 72, 5,917 yard course to hold a two-stroke advantage over her teeammate Riber. Riber's 78 was one stroke better then fellow freshman Bergin's 79. Bergin is tied for third with three other golfers.

Senior Jennifer Tierney (Danbury, CT) sits tied for 15th overall after shooting an 85.

The final round of play in the 2008 Sacred Heart Fall Classic will tee of tomorrow morning with a shotgun startat 10 am.
