Rutgers Invitational Final Results

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (October 12, 2008) - Sacred Heart senior Jennifer Tierney (Danbury, CT) picked-up her first top-five finish of 2008-09 to lead the Pioneers to a seventh place finish at the Rutgers Invitational over the weekend. The Pioneers shot a two-round score of 654 to come up with a solid sevnth finis in a field of 16 teams.

Tierney fired matching rounds of 77 on both Friday and Saturday to come home tied for fifth overall at the event. Tierney was just seven strokes off the lead playing at the Rutgers Course, a par 72, 6,034 yard course.

The Pioneer freshmen tandem of Michelle Riber (Stockholm, Sweden) and Carly Bergin (Binghamton, NY) finshed tied for 35th and 38th, respectively, in the field of 92 golfers. Riber shot a 166 (83-83) while Bergin fired a 167 (83-84).

Senior Jillian Nery (New Bedford, MA) rebounded from a day one 91 to shoot an 82 on Saturday and finish tied for 54th.

The Pioneers travel to the Fairleigh Dickinson Invitational next weekend at the Royce Brook Golf Club in Hillsborough, New Jersey.
