WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (October 4, 2008) - The Sacred Heart women's golf team wrapped up their first round at the 2008 ECAC Championship shooting a team score of 326 to leave them seventh in a 17 team field heading into the final round on Sunday. The Pioneers are five strokes behind Dartmouth for sixth and trail St. John's and Princeton who share the overall lead after a round one 309.
The Pioneers got matching 81's from a pair of seniors in Jennifer Tierney (Danbury, CT) and Joanne Martorana (Randolph, NJ). The duo are tied for 27th overall in a field that included 90 golfers.
Two SHU newcomers are sitting tied for 35th overall as freshmen Michelle Riber (Stockholm, Sweeden) and Carly Bergin (Binghamton, NY) each shot 82 on Saturday.
The final round of play will tee-off on Sunday morning at the par 72, 6,058 yard Kiskiack Golf Course.
