WILLIAMSBURG, VA - Freshman Gabriella Riber (Stockholm, Sweden) finished fifth out 55 golfers at the ECAC Division I Women's Golf Championship this weekend, helping her Pioneer teammates to a fifth-place finish out of 11 teams at the Kiskiack Golf Course. Riber's 153 total was just two shots behind medalist Sarah Siderenko of Hartford.
The University of Pennsylvania won the title with a team total of 616, followed by Albany and Lehigh at 634 each. Hartford was fourth at 636, followed by SHU at 643. The Pioneers finished ahead of Saint Francis (PA), Mount St. Mary's, Wagner and St. Francis (NY) of the NEC in the final standings.
Sophomore Carly Bergin (Binghamton, NY) shook off a rough opening round 86 to shoot 75 in the second round and finish in a 13th-place tie for the Pioneers at 161. Michelle Riber (Stockholm, Sweden) was 17th at 162 and freshman Claire McGovern (Escondido, CA) 26th at 167.
The Pioneers are back in action next weekend at the Rutgers Invitational.
