2008 CCSU Spring Invitational Round 1 Results

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The Sacred Heart women's golf team, coming off their win at the Hartford Invitational earlier in the week, posted a round one score of 338 during the first round of play at the Central Connecticut Spring Invitational on Saturday. The Pioneers sit in third place heading into Sunday's final round chasing Fairleigh Dickinson in first and Hartford in second.

Junior Joanne Martorana (Randolph, NJ) led the Pioneers on day one shooting an 80 on the par 73, 6,107 Stanley Golf Course in New Britain. Martorana is tied for fourth overall with fellow junior Jennifer Tierney (Danbury, CT) also in the top-10 tied for ninth. Tierney shot an 84 over the first 18-holes of the event.

Senior Patricia Heyes (Durobin, Ontario) is in 11th place after an 85 while junior Jillian Nery (New Bedford, MA) is in 23rd after shooting an 89.

The final 18 holes will played on Sunday, with tee times beginning at 10:48 a.m.
