PORT WASHINGTON, NY - Sophomore Kathleen Cummings (Waltham, MA) had one of the lowest scores of the day with an 85 on the Harbor Links Golf Club to help the Sacred Heart women's golf team take 18 strokes off its first-day score and finish in fourth place in the Hofstra Invitational Tuesday.
Northeast Conference rival Long Island University won the Invitational by nine strokes over host Hofstra, and 19 strokes in front of third-place Hartford. The Pioneers finished in fourth, well in front of Central Connecticut State University in fifth.
Cummings (88-85-173) finished tied for seventh in the individual medalist race. Freshman Ali Heyes (Durobin, Ontario) finished in 13th overall, while senior Susan Leventakos (Fairfield, CT) finished in 18th.
The Pioneers will be in action again on Friday at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational in Frederick, MD.
