BLOOMFIELD, Conn.— Junior Chelsea Sedlar carded a 73 in the final round at the Hartford Hawks Invitational to take the individual title with a score of 149 (+5). The Sacred Heart women's golf team also recorded its best finish of the fall, finishing third with a score of 627.
Sedlar finished the first round on Saturday just two strokes back of the lead with a 76. She followed that up with a near perfect round on Sunday to capture her first medalist honors of the year. Senior Estee Deschamps fired a 77 in both rounds to finish tied for seventh, the highest finish of her career at 10-over par. Classmate Alejandra Perez tied for 19th at 18-over par as she carded an 80 on Sunday. Senior Abigail Hood bounced back on Sunday as well with a 78 to finish tied for 22nd at 19-over par. Ana Contreras rounded out the Pioneers scoring group in 31st at 23-over par. Maya Isom finished tied for 39th as an individual, she carded a 83 in the final round to sit at 29-over par.
As a team, SHU finished with a score of 308 in the final round on Sunday, moving up one spot from Saturday's round. The Pioneers were just five strokes off the lead as Quinnipiac took the team title at 622. Brown finished one stroke back of the Bobcats to place second. Tournament host Hartford finished in fourth with a score of 638.
The Pioneers will compete in the CCSU One Day tournament on Wednesday, October 4 at Tashua Knolls Golf Club in Trumbull.
