PISCATAWAY, N.J.— The Sacred Heat women's golf team opened up its fall season finishing in eighth place at the Rutgers Invitational at Rutgers Golf Course on Sunday.
After posting a team score of 328 in round one, the Pioneers posted a team score of 324 in both rounds two and three to finish with a three-round score of 976. Georgetown took home the team title with a score of 45-over par. While last year's team champion, Delaware finished two strokes back at +47. Tournament host Rutgers rounded out the top three at 50-over par.
Junior Chelsea Sedlar was the Pioneers top finisher, tied for 18th over the three-round event. Sedlar carded a 78 in the final round to finish 19-over par. Senior Lauren Pelster finished tied for 37th with a score of 29-over par. She posted back-to-back rounds of 82 to finish out the tournament. Senior Abigail Hood finished 31-over par to place tied for 41st. Senior Alejandra Perez finished tied for 44th at 33-over par. Senior Estée Deschamps rounded out the Pioneers scoring group at 41-over par for a tie in 52nd place. Junior Chrissie Wojciechowski finished tied for 59th as an individual.
The Pioneers travel to the Navy Fall Invitational at the US Naval Academy Golf Course for a two-day event beginning September 16.
