BLOOMFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart women's golf team finished the Hartford Women's Invitational at Tumble Brook Country Club tied for first place with the University of Albany with a team score of 635. The Pioneers have earned three first place finishes this spring.
Sophomore Chelsea Sedlar led the Pioneers scoring group as she finished tied for fourth place with a two-day score of 12-over par. Senior Ellen Nighbor finished one stroke back of Sedlar at 13-over to finish in seventh place. Senior Stephanie Lowe finished tied for eighth place at +16 as she shot an 80 in both rounds. Junior Abigail Hood tied for eleventh on the leaderboard as she carded a two-round score of +18. Junior Alejandra Perez closed out the SHU scoring group tied for 22nd with a score of 171. Junior Estee Deschamps finished tied for 16th as an individual with a score of 23-over par.
SHU recorded a tournament low score of 310 in round one, but slipped in round two with a score of 325. The Great Danes outshot the Pioneers by five strokes in round two to tie for first place in the five-team tournament. NEC counterpart, Wagner finished seven strokes back in third place.
The Pioneers will host the SHU Spring One Day Tournament at Great River Golf Club on Monday, April 17. The shotgun start will begin at 11:00 a.m.
