LITTLESTOWN, PA— The Sacred Heart women's golf team shot a spring season-low of 299 in round two to take home it's second team title of the season at the Seahawk Invite at Quail Valley Golf Course. The Pioneers placed three golfers in the top five in the two-day event held at the Quail Valley Gettysburg Invite course.
The Pioneers improved from the team score of 310 in round one to move into the top spot with a two-day score of 609. The score of 299 in round two was four strokes over the program low of 295 set back in September at the Dartmouth Invitational. SHU finished twelve strokes ahead of second place Quinnipiac, who finished with a two-day score of 623. Navy, who held the lead after day one finished in third with a team score of 623.
Leading the Pioneers was senior Ellen Nighbor, who finished tied for second at seven-over par (151). Junior Abigail entered the final round tied for eighth and went on to shoot a 75 to move into fourth place at eight-over par. Hood tied for the event lead with five birdies over the two days. Senior Stephanie Lowe shot a career-low round of 73 on day two to jump up thirteen spots on the leaderboard to tie for fifth overall at +9. Sophomore Chelsea Sedlar bounced back with a day two score of 75 to finish tied for 13th at 13-over par. Junior Alejandra Perez closed out the scoring group with a score of 17-over par to tie for 21st. Junior Estee Deschamps finished tied for 31st at 22-over par as an individual.
The Pioneers return to the course on Saturday, April 8 as they open the Hartford Women's Spring Invite at Tumble Brook Country Club.
