Fairfield, CT - Juniors Carisa Eye (Nesconset, NY) and Amy Hendricks (Milford, PA) have been named to All-Northeast Conference first team, while senior Jenn Howley (North Salem, NY) earned second team honors. The awards were announced Thursday night at the annual postseason banquet on the eve of this weekend's NEC tournament.
Eye, who was the NEC player of the year in 2006, led the team and was third in the league in scoring this season, netting 12 goals. She scored four game winning goals and nine multi-point games. She ran off a streak of five straight games with a goal from Septmber 23-October 10.
Hendricks emerged as an offensive threat out of the backfield for Sacred Heart. She tallied three goals and two assists on the year and helped anchor a defense that produced six shutouts this year.
Howley, one of SHU's captains, earned second team honors for the second straight year. The former NEC rookie of the year, Howley scored one goal and added two assists out of the midfield for SHU this season.
Sacred Heart is seeded third in the NEC tournament. The Pioneers will face second-seeded Rider in the second semifinal Friday afternoon at Lock Haven University. Game time is set for 1:30 pm.
