Eye and Benn Grab NEC Weekly Honors

FAIRFIELD, CT - Sophomore Carisa Eye (Nesconset, NY) and freshman Erica Benn (Oakhurst, NJ) were selected as Northeast Conference Player and Rookie of the Week today after a 1-1 start to the season over the weekend.

Eye, the Pioneers' leading point scorer from 2005, picked up right where she left off, scoring two goals to lead Sacred Heart to a 4-1 win over Rhode Island, marking the team's first victory of the season. Eye is the first NEC player to score multiple goals in a game this year and leads the team and conference with four points overall.

Benn's solid all-around play helped Sacred Heart split its first two games of the season. Benn spearheaded a Pioneer defense that gave up just three goals in the week, while she assisted on teammate Amy Hendricks' game-winning goal in a 4-1 win over Rhode Island.
