Sacred Heart Field Hockey Announces Class of 2014

FAIRFIELD, CT - Sacred Heart University field hockey coach Chris Blais has announced the seven members of the team's incoming freshman class.  The seven freshmen will represent the Pioneers as the class of 2014.


Stephanie Frye, of Walpole, MA, and Shannon Murphy, of East Hampstead, NH, are the two forward in the recruiting class.  Frye played four years of field hockey at Walpole High School under head coach Marianne Murphy, while Murphy played at Pinkerton Academy for Denise Rioux.


Two players in the class were recruited as capable forwards and midfielders.  Melinda Feyko, from Morrisville, PA, and Jennifer O'Malley, of Boston, MA, can both play up top or in the center of the field.  Feyko played high school field hockey at Pennsbury High School for head coach Tracy Ardnt, and O'Malley played at Falmouth High school under Janey Norton before spending a year at Brewster Academy.


Chelsie Muldowney and Ilze Stots will both look to play the midfield for SHU next season.  Muldowney, from Windham, NH, played field hockey at Salem High School for Carol Merchant, while Stots, of Rhinebeck, NY, played at Rhinebck High School under Laura Kraus.


The lone defender of the class is Ali Roy.  Roy is from Erdenheim, PA and played high school field hockey at Springfield Township High School for Linda Nixon.
