Feb. 18, 2004

FAIRFIELD, CT (February 18, 2004) - The Sacred Heart University field hockey team has received four commitments from incoming freshmen for the 2004 season. The announcement was made Tuesday by field hockey head coach Chris Blais.

The class includes Leah Stoehr (Lower Dauphin, PA/Lower Dauphin H.S.), Andi Corio (Scrub Oak, NY/Lakeland H.S.), Jen Howley (North Salem, NY/North Salem H.S.) and Danielle Vasely (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay H.S.). Corio, Stoehr and Vasely played at the forward position in high school while Howley was a defender.

"We have a very good class coming in for next year," says Blais. "Stoehr is a very good athlete with a lot of potential. She's strong, has great hands and is an awesome person to be around. Vasley has a lot of speed and a great killer instinct, Howley is the type of player who can score at will and Andi is a highly skilled defender. They could all see a lot of playing time next season."

These are just four of the players that Blais has recruited for the class of 2008 and is still awaiting commitments from other players as well.
