Field Hockey shot down by Hofstra

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra freshman Imme Van Dijk scored her first collegiate goal and Hofstra shutout a team for the second time this week, as they blanked Sacred Heart, 2-0, Friday night, at Shuart Stadium. Hofstra improves to 10-6 overall after winning three straight, while Sacred Heart falls to 7-9 overall. The Pride shutout Quinnipiac 5-0 on Wednesday night.
In a constant downpour, Van Dijk put the first goal in the net for Hofstra as she took a rebound off a save by Pioneers goalie Robyn Breer for the only goal of the first half.
In the second half, Kara McEneaney took a pass Sekayi Liburd that came off a pass from a penalty corner setup for her sixth goal of the season at 61:55.
Sacred Heart out shot Hofstra 12-11, and also made seven penalty corners to Hofstra's five. Pride goalie Jessica Cowperthwait made four saves, and Breer made four for SHU.
The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, October 17 for a crucial match up with NEC opponent Siena in Loudonville, NY. Game time is 1:00 PM
