Final Stats

Hamden, CT - Junior Melissa Mazin (Putnam Valley, NY) scored the only goal of the game to lead Sacred Heart past Quinnipiac, 1-0, in a Northeast Conference match-up at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey Turf Complex Sunday. SHU has now won three straight games.

Mazin scored the only goal of the game in the 9th minute of play on an assist from Danielle Vasely (Hopewell Junction, NY). The goal came off a penalty corner and a deflection from a shot at the top of the scoring arc from junior Amy Hendricks (Milford, PA).

Sacred Heart goalkeepers Kristen McIntire (Avon, CT) and Whitney Mills (Harrisburg, PA) split time in net. McIntire had nine saves in the first half, while Mills stopped six shots in the combined shutout. For Quinnipiac Jenna Grossman had six saves while allowing one goal in 70 minutes in net.

The Pioneers are back in action Friday when they host Siena in the opening game a season-ending four game homestand. The NEC contest starts at 1:00 pm at Campus Field.
