HAMDEN, CT (October 13, 2009) – The Sacred Heart University field hockey team was shutout by Northeast opponent Quinnipiac 5-0 Tuesday afternoon. With the loss the Pioneers drop to 1-12 overall and 0-3 in the NEC, while the Bobcats improved to 3-9 and 2-2.
Senior midfielder Bonnie Shea led the QU attack with two goals and found the back of the cage for the Bobcats’ first goal 13:09 into the contest. Fellow seniors Christine Grady and MacKenzie Liptak contributed two assists each in the win.
Sacred Heart junior Kim Stow (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) surpassed 10 saves for the seventh time this season with 11 stops. Senior Jenna Grossman, one save, and sophomore Nicole Lewis, two, combined for the shutout for Quinnipiac.
The Pioneers return to action Friday as they face Hofstra at Yale in non-conference play at 7:00 pm.
