Final Stats

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ (October 11, 2009) – The Sacred Heart University field hockey team dropped its sixth straight game at Monmouth Sunday afternoon, 4-0.  The loss puts the Pioneers at 1-11 overall and 0-2 in the Northeast Conference, while the Hawks improved to 7-7 overall and 3-1 in the NEC.

 

Red-shirt senior forward Enza Mazza registered a hat trick to lead the MU offense.  Sophomore Ashley McPeek added a goal and an assist.

 

SHU junior midfielder Dana Luhrs (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) had the team’s closest scoring opportunity as a flick shot in the first half was deflected over the left corner of the cage.

 

Junior goalkeeper Kim Stow (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) made 10 saves in net for the Pioneers.  In the cage for the Hawks, junior Melissa Katz recorded two stops to earn the shutout.

 

Sacred Heart returns to action Tuesday as they face interstate foe Quinnipiac in Hamden, CT at 3:00 pm.
