Final Stats

New Haven, CT (September 17, 2009) – The Sacred Heart University field hockey team dropped a non-conference game to Maine 6-0 at Yale University Thursday night.  The Pioneers drop to 1-6 overall, while the Black Bears improved to 5-1 on the season.

 

Sophomore forward Stephanie Gardiner got Maine on the board early on with an unassisted goal from the right side just 2:50 into the first half.  Classmate Jocelyn Mitchell powered the Maine offense with a pair of goals and an assist.

 

Junior goalie Kim Stow (Norwalk, CT) stopped 11 shots in the cage for SHU.  Sophomore Brittany Fleck and junior Courtney Gingrich split the game in goal for Maine making two saves each.

 

The Pioneers return to action with a non-conference match-up at Boston University Saturday at 3:30.
