Final Stats

Fairfield, CT - The Sacred Heart field hockey team split a pair of games at the Husky Classic to start their season over the weekend. The Pioneers fell to Towson, 6-1, in the opener before beating Maine, 1-0, Sunday to earn a split of the weekend.

Senior Danielle Vasely (Hopwell Junction, NY) scored the only goal of the game Sunday, converting on a penalty stroke at the 48:07 mark. Junior Kristen McIntire (Avon, CT) made three saves in goal to earn her first career victory as well as first shutout. In Saturday's loss, freshman Dana Luhrs (Milford, PA) scored SHU's only goal. It was the first marker of her career.

The Pioneers are back on the field Wednesday night when they visit UMass. Game is set for 6:00 pm.
