Field Hockey Earns First MAAC Win in 2-1 Victory over Bryant

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Sacred Heart University field hockey team snapped its losing streak, as the Pioneers defeated MAAC-foe Bryant, 2-1, Friday afternoon. Kelsy Hopkins and Colleen McAninley each tallied a goal for the Pios in the win, with McAninley's goal being the game-winner.

The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, Oct. 14, when SHU travels to take on MAAC-foe Monmouth at 1 p.m.

The Scoring

  • (41:24): Hopkins broke the scoreless tie after scoring an unassisted goal

  • (55:06): Victoria Newbill sent a pass to Clare Luttrell, who fired a shot past the keeper to tie the contest at 1-1

  • (64:54): McAninley scored an unassisted goal to give SHU the lead for good

  • McAninley's goal was her team-leading sixth of the season

  • McAninley's game-winning goal was her third of the season
