Field Hockey Falls to Yale in OT, 2-1

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Sacred Heart University field hockey team suffered its third  loss in a row as the Pioneers fell to Yale, 2-1 in overtime, Sunday afternoon at Johnson Field. Colleen McAninley scored the Pios lone goal in the loss.

The Pioneers return to action on Friday, September 28, when SHU takes on Fairfield at 12 p.m. at Johnson Field.

The Scoring

  • (30:48): Colleen McAninley broke the scoreless tie after Kayla Kruk fed her a pass, allowing McAninley to sneak the ball past the keeper

  • (45:47): Imogen Davies scored on a penalty corner from Bridget Condie to tie the contest at 1-1

  • (71:57): Katie Pieterse fed a pass to Theodora Dillman, who put it in goal to give Yale the 2-1 win in OT

Noteworthy

  • McAninley's goal was her team-leading fifth of the season

  • McAninley's five goals are a career-high for her in a season as she totaled two in her two previous seasons

  • McAninley has scored four goals in SHU's last four games

  • McAninley's 13 points leads the team as well

  • Kruk's assist was her first of the season

  • Alyssa Stevens made 11 saves in the overtime loss in her season debut
