McAninley Scores Field Hockey's Lone Goal in 4-1 Loss Against UMass Lowell

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Sacred Heart University field hockey team had its two-game win streak snapped, as the Pioneers fell to UMass Lowell, 4-1, Sunday afternoon at Johnson Field. Colleen McAninley scored the Pios lone goal in the loss.

The Pioneers return to action on Tuesday, September 18, when SHU plays host to Hofstra at noon.

The Scoring

  • (14:03): Carleen O'Connell sent a long pass downfield to Anouk Lalande, who made a one-on-one move on the goalie to score and put the Riverhawks up 1-0

  • (36:40): Colleen McAninley scored an unassisted goal to tie the contest at 1-1

  • (37:42): Torrie Huk slipped a pass to Lalande in front of the net, who put it in the back of the net to take a 2-1 lead

  • (42:10): Morgan Irons corralled a rebound in front of the net and shot it home to put UMass Lowell up 3-1

  • (55:24): Huk gathered a loose ball in the circle and shot it past the keeper

Noteworthy

  • McAninley's goal was her fourth of the season

  • The goal was her third in two games

  • UMass Lowell outshot Sacred Heart 23-10

  • Lowell registered 11 shots on goal, compared to five for Sacred Heart

  • The Pioneers received four penalty corners, compared to six for Villanova
