Sacred Heart Field Hockey Announces Incoming Freshman Class for 2012 Season

(Fairfield, CT) – The Sacred Heart Pioneer Field Hockey team has announced the finalized incoming committed freshman class for the 2012 season.  Rachel Claroni (Hershey, PA), Mary Altepeter (Chesterfield, MO), Nichole Dobachesky (Medway, MA), Hope Chorzel (St. Louis, MO), and Christine Mace (Norwalk, CT) are all set to join the Pioneer Field Hockey team for next season.

Claroni is a midfielder who won a Class AAA District III championship with her Hershey High School team, where she was named a First Team-All Leaguer. 

Altepeter is a goalkeeper who won the MWAA Player of the Year for Visitation Academy in St. Louis, MO.  She also was named to the MWAA First Team as a junior and Second Team as a sophomore.

Dobachesky is a three-time Tri-Valley League all star midfielder/forward, who served as captain of her field hockey and ice hockey teams at Medway High School.

Chorzel helped lead her Lafayette High School team in St. Louis to MO to Public School League Conference cChampionships and MO State Championships for three straight years (2009-2011). The midfielder was named All-Conference as well as an Academic All-American nominee her senior season.

Mace is the only incoming CT native, coming to SHU from nearby Norwalk High School, where she was All-Sate, All-Area, and All-FCIAC.  She was also named a CT Post All-Star in 2010 and an CT post All-Star MVP in 2011.
