(Fairfield, CT) –Pioneer Field Hockey head coach Chris Blais has announced the signing of three freshmen to National Letters of Intent to play at Sacred Heart in 2011. Kylee Lowndes (Simsbury, CT), Sarah Bergman (Blandon, PA), and Rachel Leszkowicz (Gilbertsville, PA) all have committed to Sacred Heart for their upcoming freshman seasons.
Lowndes is a First Team All-State Forward for Simsbury High School, where she also played four years of varsity ice hockey and lacrosse. She helped lead the Trojans to a CT state championship in 2008, and was named to the All-League in both her junior and senior seasons.
Bergman is a midfielder who was named Berks County Division II MVP her senior season, as well as a member of the All-Division II Team, All-Berks County Team, 1st Team AA All-State this fall. Her team won the Division II Championship her freshman, sophomore, and senior seasons.
Leszkowicz won the Gold Medal winner in U16 National Futures Championship in 2009 with a shutout and 12-saves performance, then won gold again in the 2010 U19 National Futures Championship. In her four years at Boyertown High, she amassed 22 shutouts and 85.6 career save percentage.
