NEW YORK, NY - The Sacred Heart women's fencing team closed out the 2004 fall season by defeating the Hunter Hawks 15-12 on Saturday in New York.

In the women's sabre, women's sabre captain, senior Christie Zelenik went 3-0 against the Hawks, followed by Elizabeth Mordecai who also went 3-0. Rounding out the sabre competition for the Pioneers was Elise Valerio who went 2-1.

In the women's epee competition, senior Nicole Juba went 3-0, sweeping through the Hawk women's epee squad. Freshmen Mary Dannegar and Mindi McLaughlin finished the day with a record of 2-1 apiece.

The women's foil squad was unable to capture a victory against the strong Hawk's foil squad and the Hunter was able to close the gap in the final score.
