POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The women's fencing got the season off on a high note, recording a pair of victories in the opening weekend. The team traveled with the men's team to Vassar the weekend of Nov. 8th, and competed against Vassar and CCNY. The Pioneer women won their first match against Vassar, despite not being able to field a complete roster against the Brewers.

The women's team competed with only six fencers in the nine-event field. In order for a team to win a meet, it needs to earn at least 14 points. Starting the match three fencers short, the Pioneers were in a 9-0 hole before it even started. The team rallied and pulled out an impressive 14-13 come-from-behind victory.

The women then went on to fence against CCNY, and came away with an easy 18-9 victory.

The Pioneers will next be in action in Ithaca, NY to compete against Cornell and Case Western on the 22nd of November.
