BOSTON, MA - Having the best day ever for an SHU Saber fencer, freshman Krista Bacci reached the final pool and placed ninth at the NCAA Northeast Regional Tournament, held at Tufts University on Sunday. Unfortunately, Bacci finished just two places short of qualifying for the NCAA Championships.

"Krista had a fantastic day," commented head coach Dr. Tom Vrabel. "She came into the tournament nursing a sprained ankle and severe shin splints and was just not moving like she can when she is healthy. Despite these injuries, she fenced tough all day and refused to lose. I think that the physical stress of the long competition finally caught up with her in the finals."

"Krista has steadily improved all year and with her dedication and athletic ability has not come close to reaching her potential. I look for her to be a force in college saber for the rest of her career at SHU".
