For more than twenty-two years, Coach Luciano has been involved in the sport of fencing. Luciano began fencing in 1988 at Fairfield High School. He went on to fence at Rutgers University where in the 1995-1996 season he and fellow alumnus John Gringeri won the Division I National Epee Championship. As an individual, he earned a spot on the First Team All-American Epee Squad.

Prior to his time at Sacred heart, Luciano coached all over Fairfield County in various roles for eight years. He coached the Fairfield High School Boys and Girls Fencing Team for seven years, leading the 2003 team to two championships. Coach Luciano also coached for the Town of Fairfield, various schools in the area, and the Fairfield and Wilton YMCAs. Coach Luciano ran Fairfield County Fencers Club from 2003 until 2006. Luciano has fenced epee, foil and sabre and competes in all three regularly. He also attends clinics to stay current with fencing rules and techniques. Coach Luciano is a nationally ranked referee in all three weapons.

He has also choreographed stage fencing for local theater.
