FAIRFIELD, CT - Equestrian head coach Alysia Cantelmo announced today that Ashley Coppola and Kelly McGovern were re-elected to the position of equestrian team co-captains for the 2006 - 2007 season.

Coppola returns for her fourth season in the irons for the Pioneers, riding in the Open division. To her credit, Coppola has qualified for the post-season for two consecutive seasons, both times in the Intermediate division. This year, Coppola will look to finish her collegiate career with post-season qualifications in the Open Division.

McGovern also has a post-season qualification on her competitive resume. The 2006-2007 season will see McGovern riding in the Walk/Trot/Canter Division. Look for McGovern to attempt to repeat her '06 post-season qualification, this time in Class 2.

In addition to serving as elected team captains, both riders have served as the team's Student Athletic Advisory Council (SAAC) representatives. The Pioneers will open their season at the annual St. Joseph's College Intercollegiate Horse Show on Sunday, October 8th. Supporters are encouraged to come out and join the team ringside.
