STONY BROOK, NY - In their third outing of the season, the Sacred Heart Pioneers finished in third place at the annual Molloy College Intercollegiate Horse Show. The highlight of today's show for the team was Emily Grayson's pair of blue ribbons which earned her the title of High Point Rider. For her efforts, she moves up in the Regional High Point Rider standings to a season best, 2nd place.

The competition started with the customary Open classes. The Pioneers were well represented by the combination of Grayson, Captain Kate Janczak and freshman Catherine Coyle. Grayson brought home a pair of firsts, Janczak a pair of 5ths and Coyle a 4th over fences. For Coyle, this was her first intercollegiate ribbon.

The day progressed with the Intermediate over Fences division. Here it was the combination of Ashley Coppola and Lauren Pierce bringing in the points for the team. For Coppola, it was a 3rd place finish and her first intercollegiate ribbon over fences. Pierce was rewarded with a 6th place ribbon for her efforts.

In Novice Fences, Jessica Reynolds and Crystal Taylor both rode to 6th place finishes in their respective classes. For Taylor, this marked her first intercollegiate ribbon over fences.

The afternoon session was marked by a continued strong SHU presence in the Intermediate flat division. To their credit, Michele Baillargeon, Coppola and Taylor earned a 5th, 1st and 2nd in their respective classes.

Reynolds and Sara Spagna rose to the top in Novice Flat with a respective win and 3rd place finish. For Reynolds, her flat class results have increased one place upwards at each competition. For Spagna, this was her first ribbon on the flat.
 

 

Lauren O'Connell was again the team anchorperson at day's end competing in Walk/Trot. For her efforts she was rewarded with a 5th place finish.
