Her hometown is Cranford, NJ, and she went to Cranford High School.

Personal: In high school, Kelly was captain of the volleyball team. Her parents are Frank and Eileen McGovern, and her sisters are Megan and Brigid and her brother is Frank. Her parents are her role models. She has been captain of the team for two years and she qualified for IHSA regionals in 2005. Kelly chose SHU because she loved the campus and the size of the school and everyone was friendly. She has been riding for four years. Her favorite movie is Now and Then, her favorite sports team is the Yankees, her favorite food is lasagna and her pastime is beach volleyball. Kelly majors in Psychology and hopes to work in athletics and teach elementary school.
