She grew up with her parents Amy and Edward, and her younger sister Renee. She rode at Guimond Stables and is a past-president and junior leader of City Slickers 4-H club.

Janel is the captain of the SHU equestrian team. She rode hunt seat for eight years but since she has been at Sacred Heart she has switch to riding western horsemanship and reining patterns. Janel is a junior nursing major and after college intends to becoming a nurse in a neo-natal intensive care unit in a Boston hospital.

Her interests include horseback riding, dancing, summertime, and going to the beach. Janel loves hanging out with her friends and is addicted to coffee and chocolate.
