FAIRFIELD, CT - Sophomore Sarah Pelletier (Lewiston, ME) was named the Northeast Conference Bowler of the Week today after being named the Most Valuable Player at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawk Classic over the weekend.

Pelletier led the 20-team field individual average with 208.5 and anchored the SHU team for most of their tournament 15-3 match play record. She was also named to the All-Tournament Team.

She helped her team with victories over all five of the other top 10 ranked teams in the tournament - reigning national champion and #1 ranked Maryland-Eastern Shore, 2007 and 2nd ranked Vanderbilt University, 2006 NCAA Champions FDU, 8th ranked New Jersey City University and 9th Delaware State University.

The highlight of those wins was a one-pin victory over tournament champion Vanderbilt University on Saturday in which Sarah threw five strikes in a row at the beginning of the match on the low scoring conditions, and a strike in the tenth forcing Vanderbilt's anchor to try and throw three strikes in the final frame for a chance to win.
