TEANECK, NJ - The Sacred Heart women's bowling team went 4-2 in match play in the final Northeast Conference meet of the season and earned the second seed in the NEC Championships that will take place Saturday and Sunday. The NEC seeded the championship meet based upon win-loss records from an 18-match conference slate that began with 12 combination matches over two regular season meets and ended with six single matches on seeding day.

In the first match Friday the Pioneers defeated first-place Kutztown, 956-901. Sarah Pelletier and Marissa Gagliardi led team with 211 games. The Pioneers followed that up by falling to Fairleigh Dickinson. SHU bowled well but FDU bowled phenominally on the challenging lane conditions shooting a 1094 against the Pioneers' respectable 967. Danielle Cocks led SHU with a 219, followed by Nicole Caggiano's 214.

In match three against St. Peter's, the Pioneers struggled and lost 858-887. Senior Jamie Manzo pressed to shoot the high game of 198.

In the afternoon block, freshmen D'Anna Farmer and Savannah Zientara joined the starting lineup. Neither missed a spare and struck on 50 percent of their shots to help the team in four-game baker wins over Long Island (779-392) and St. Francis (805-602). The SHU keglers ended the day with a 705-616 over Adelphi.

The finish left the Pioneers with 12-6 conference record, which earned them the number two seed in the double-elimination championship bracket. SHU's first round match is at 10:30 AM saturday against 4th seeded St. Francis (NY).
