NORTH LEVITTOWN, NY - The Sacred Heart women's bowling team increased their season record to 8-2 after another strong performance at the second North East Women's Collegiate Bowling Conference at North Levittown Lanes on Saturday.

The day started with a solid 979-901 victory over host Adelphi University led by Sarah Pelletier's 224. In match two, the first four bowlers all doubled in the tenth frame for a narrow 7-pin win over St. Francis College. Again, freshmen led the team with 237 by Katy Edsall and 213 by Pelletier.

Pelletier continued her fine bowling with an incredible 267 game while Jaime Manzo added 221 but the Pioneers lost match three in the tenth frame against New Jersey City University 1001-1035. The team rebounded with a convincing win Fairleigh Dickinson University in the fourth match led by Manzo's 234 and Marissa Gagliardi's 220 game. The ladies ended the meet with their highest game of the day. All five players shot 200 games for a 1075-952 victory over St. Peter's College.

The team won the meet with a 4-1 record with the next best team at 3-2. They also lead the six team field in total pinfall at 1075. Today's results increased the Pioneers led in the NEWCBC standings to 12 points.

Freshman sensation Pelletier led the team and meet in average with 229.8 while Manzo was fourth at 212.2 for five games. After two meets, Pelletier is leading the field of 46 student-athletes with a 215.7 average.

In the junior varsity division, the Pioneers had a difficult day, only going 1-4 in matches and only winning 15 of 50 possible points. With a few regulars on the injured list, many of the younger players had the opportunity to gain experience on the lanes. Match one was a 3-pin loss to NJCU 826-829 followed by two more losses (FDU 880-917 and AU 888-892). The JV keglers shot their high game of the day against NJCU 912-749 before they fell to FDU 874-1006 in the final match. Freshman Erin Weinmann was high average of the day with 190.6 for the five matches.
