PERRY HALL, MD - The Sacred Heart women's bowling team is eleventh after the first day of competition at the Morgan State Invitational with a 4684 total pinfall in five games. The University of Nebraska Lincoln is leading with 5098. The Pioneers went 3-2 for the day to bring their season record to 64-13.

The Pioneers dropped the opening match to Arkansas State University 925-992 despite a 234 game by senior captain Amanda Lulu. The team followed that win up with a narrow 901-882 win over Florida A&M University with no SHU players topping the 200 mark.

The Pioneers got things together in match four, shooting a 949 against The University of Wisconsin Whitewater's 913. Lulu again led the team with a 204 along with Marissa Gagliardi's 203.

Sarah Pelletier shot a 210 but the team ended game five with a disappointing 899-1041 loss to #1 ranked University of Nebraska.

The team finished strong with their first plus game of the day topping Norfolk State University 1010-738. Pelletier shot a 278 which is the team's high individual game of the year.

Pelletier led the team in average on the higher scoring conditions with 206.6 for her five games.

"Today was a mediocre performance and not up to expectations after our success in Arkansas," said head coach Becky Kregling. "We were unable to make consistant quality shots to keep up with the scoring pace. We have a lot of ground to make up tomorrow but I am confident our team will do what needs to be done to get to where we should be in the standings."

Competition resumes tomorrow morning with practice starting at 8:45AM followed 20 baker games consisting of four 4-game total pinfall baker matches against Elmhurst, Vanderbilt, Howard and North Carolina A&T plus a round off due to the uneven number of teams in the field.
