Pioneer Bowling Picked 4th in NEC Preseason Poll

FAIRFIELD, CONN. (October 18, 2013)—The Sacred Heart women's bowling team was picked fourth in the 2013 Northeast Conference preseason poll released Thursday afternoon. Saint Francis U beat out defending champion Adelphi and perennial power house Fairleigh Dickinson for the top spot in the poll collecting five first place votes.

"We have a very young, talented team this year," said Head Coach Becky Kregling. "I'm looking forward to the season and surprising people."

The Pioneers finished fourth in the 2013 NEC Championship after posting a 7-11 record against NEC opponents. SHU rounded out its season at the USBC xbowling Intercollegiate Team Championship where they fell into the consolation bracket after losing the Wisconsin Whitewater 4-0. Sacred Heart picked up a W against Newman 4-3. Eventually, fellow NEC member Kutztown knocked out the Pioneers 4-3 to end their season.

Sacred Heart opens the season November 1 at the FDU Invitational in Elmwood, N.J.
