FAIRFIELD, CONN. (October 2, 2013)—The Sacred Heart bowling team was ranked 13th in the country in the 2013 National Tenpin Coaches Association Preseason Poll released late Tuesday afternoon.
Defending national champion Nebraska topped the poll receiving 19 of the 26 first place votes. Vanderbilt, last year's runner-up, came in second, while Central Missouri, which was No. 1 much of last season, was ranked third.
The Pioneers finished last season in eighth place in the Northeast Conference after going 7-11 in the three NEC tournaments, and 62-46 overall. After graduating three in 2013, including four-time All-American Jackie Carbonetto, Sacred Heart looks to rebound from a subpar season.
Sacred Heart boasts a young roster this year with 14 of the 18 bowlers being underclassment. Kregling looks to seniors Nicole Trudell (Coventry, R.I.) and Chevi Panzanella (Brewster, N.Y.), and junior Victoria Pacher (Webster, N.Y.) to lead the Pioneers back to the NCAA Tournament this season.
