  • Jackie Carbonetto Named NTCA All-Academic Second Team; Six Pioneers Make Honor Roll

    Recent graduate Jackie Carbonetto (Blauvelt, N.Y.) of the Sacred Heart Women’s Bowling team was named to the NTCA All-Academic second team the NTCA released Friday afternoon.
  • Eight SHU Teams Earn NCAA Public Recognition Awards

    The NCAA announced their Public Recognition Awards this week with eight Sacred Heart athletic programs being recognized for their academic achievements. The men’s indoor and outdoor track & field teams, men’s volleyball, women’s basketball, women’s cross country, women’s ice hockey, women’s golf and women’s bowling were recognized for scoring in the top 10 percent in each sport with respect to their Academic Progress Rates (APRs). Top-performing teams this year posted APR scores ranging from 978 to a perfect 1,000.
  • Intercollegiate Team Championship Wrap Up: SHU Knocked Out by Kutztown

    The Sacred Heart Bowling team was knocked out of the USBC xbowling Intercollegiate Team Championship by Kutztown University Sunday. In her last collegiate competition, Jackie Carbonetto (Blauvelt, N.Y.) led the Pioneers averaging 21.78 per frame. She filled 21 of 22 opportunities in the match. Right behind her were junior Nicole Trudell (Coventry, R.I.) and rookie Corinne Maher (Brick Township, N.J.), who averaged 19.5 and 19.2 per frame respectively.
  • SHU Bowling Opens Intercollegiate Team Championships Day 2 Against Kutztown

    The Sacred Heart Bowling team starts the second day of competition at the 2013 Intercollegiate Team Championships against No. 11 Kutztown University in the second round of the consolation bracket Friday morning. The Pioneers fell in the first round of the double-elimination bracket to No. 9 University of Wisconsin Whitewater before topping Newman University in seven games in the first round of the consolation bracket to end day 1.
  • Jackie Carbonetto Sixth at xbowling Intercollegiate Singles Championships

    Jackie Carbonetto (Blauvelt, N.Y.) of the Sacred Heart Bowling team finished sixth at the 2013 xbowling Intercollegiate Singles Championships Tuesday afternoon. The senior earned a two-round bye in match play after totaling 1661 in eight rounds of qualifying for a top four finish, before falling to Kristina Mickelson, who was the hot bowler heading into match play, 720-618.
  • Jackie Carbonetto Named Second Team All-American

    Jackie Carbonetto (Blauvelt, N.Y.) has been a constant strength for Sacred Heart in her four years donning a Pioneer uniform and Wednesday night was honored for her contributions this season as she was named to the National Tenpin Coaches Association's All-American Second Team.
  • Pioneers Finish 4th in NEC Championship

    The Sacred Heart Bowling team placed fourth at this year’s Northeast Conference Championship this weekend. The defending champs were knocked out in the fourth round Saturday afternoon 4-1 by Kutztown in the double-elimination baker match tournament.
  • Pioneers Qualify for USBC Championship

    The Sacred Heart Women’s Bowling team finished fourth this weekend at the USBC section qualifiers in Allentown, Penn. this weekend guaranteeing them a spot in the 2013 xbowling Intercollegiate Team Championships, which will be held April 18-20 at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Neb.. Senior Jackie Carbonetto (Blauvelt, N.Y.) finished third out of 120 bowling in the individual sectionals on Friday, qualifying her for the Individual Championships.
  • Pioneers Secure Championship Berth in Final NEC Tournament

    The Sacred Heart Women’s Bowling team cemented the opportunity to defend its 2012 Northeast Conference title this weekend by going 3-6 at the third and final NEC tournament of the season. The Pioneers wrap up conference play 10-17 guaranteeing them the No. 8 seed in the tournament. In the first round of the championships, on March 23 hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson, SHU will face the No. 1 FDU Knights.

  • Pioneers Finish 9-2 at Morgan State

    The Sacred Heart Women’s Bowling team bounced back this weekend, going 9-2 at Brunswick Perry Hall at Morgan State upping their season record to 50-30. The Pioneers finished fifth in the tournament behind Central Missouri, UMES, Nebraska and Arkansas State. Chevi Panzanella (Brewster, N.Y.) led the team averaging 199.4 while converting 90% of her spares helping the team win huge matches over No. 1 University of Central Missouri and perennial power house University of Nebraska.
  • Pioneers Ranked Twelfth in NTCA Poll

    The Sacred Heart Women's Bowling Team were ranked No. 12 in February's Nation Ten Pin Coaches Association poll. The Pioneers received nine points to maintain the same spot as in the January poll.
  • Women's Bowling Goes 4-5 at Second NEC Tournament

    After an impressive showing last weekend, the Sacred Heart Women’s Bowling Team went 4-5 this weekend at the second Northeast Conference Meet of the Year. Combined with the first meet, where the Pioneers went 3-6, they are now 7-11 in conference. Jackie Carbonetto (Blauvelt, N.Y.) led the team, averaging 200.6 per match for the weekend.

    After the Sacred Heart Women's Bowling team took third place amougnst a tough field at the Kutztown Invitational last weekend, Pioneers sweep the Northeast Conference weekly awards with Jackie Carbonetto (Blauvelt, N.Y.) being named this week's NEC Player of the Week and Corrine Maher (Brick Township, N.J.) the NEC Rookie of the week.
  • Pioneers Finish 3rd at Kutztown Invitational; Trudell Named to All-Tournament Team

    The Sacred Heart Women’s Bowling Team took third at the Kutztown Invitational held at Heister’s Lanes this past weekend. After a slow start on Friday, junior Nicole Trudell led the team and finished near the top of the 189 individuals at the tournament, which was comprised of 15 of the nation’s top 20 teams. Trudell struck 46% of the time providing many crucial clutch shots including a 249 game with eight of 11 strikes to help propel the team over Vanderbilt University earning her a spot on the All-Tournament Team.

    Jackie Carbonetto of the Sacred Heart Women’s Bowling team sits in second place heading into the final day of the Team USA Trials in Henderson, Nev. The senior currently has 39 points after three rounds, eight points behind leader Diandra Asbaty and three in front of third place Sarah Lokker.

    Corrine Maher (Brick Township, N.J.) of the Sacred Heart Women's Bowling Team was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week after posting a team-high average of 20.24 pins per frame at the UMES Hawk Invitational.
  • Pioneers Finish Second in Virginia Union Invitational

    The Sacred Heart Women’s Bowling Team finished second at the Virginia Union Invitational at Bowl America Lanes in Midlothian, Va. over the weekend. The Pioneers went 7-1 in qualifying, losing only to Central Missouri 1049-914 on Day 2 in a team match. On Sunday, they fell to Central Missouri again in the Championship Match 4-2. Senior Jackie Carbonetto (Blauvelt, N.Y.), who led Sacred Heart on Day 1 averaging 21.42 per frame, was named to the All-Tournament Team.
  • Pioneers Finish 8th at Hawk Classic

    The Sacred Heart Women’s Bowling Team placed eighth, with an 8-5 record, in the Hawks Classic hosted by University of Maryland Eastern Shore last weekend. Rookie Corinne Maher (Brick Township, N.J.) led the team with a 20.22 frame average. The only other Pioneer to average over 200 was Jackie Carbonetto (Blauvelt, N.Y.) with 20.16 for the three days of competition.

    Reading, Penn.—The defending Northeast Conference Champion Sacred Heart Women’s Bowling Team had a shaky start to the 2012-13 season in their first match over the weekend going 3-6 on the weekend to finish eighth out of the ten-team field.
  • Defending Champs Picked to Finish on Top In Preseason Poll

    Fairfield, Conn.—The 2012 Northeast Conference Champion Sacred Heart Women's Bowling Team has been picked to finish on top the conference in the 2012-13 Preseason Coach's Poll. Edging out perenial favorite Fairleigh Dickinson, who received four first place nods, SHU garnered six first place votes. The Pioneers begin defending their title this weekend at Bowl-O-Rama in Reading, Penn. for the first NEC match of the season.
  • Pioneers Notch No. 7 Spot in Preseason Coaches Poll

    Fairfield, Conn.--The defending Northeast Conference Champion Sacred Heart Women's Bowling Team was voted No. 7 in the country by the National Tenpin Coaches Association in the inaugural preseason poll. University of Maryland Eastern Shore, the 2012 NCAA Champions, got 14 first place votes, landing the Hawks the top spot.
  • Jackie Carbonetto Cements Spot on Junior Team USA 2013

    Jackie Carbonetto (Blauvelt, N.Y.) of the Sacred Heart Women’s Bowling Team finished second in the 2012 North Pointe Junior Gold Championship presented by Brunswick. The second-place finish cemented Carbonetto’s spot on Junior Team USA 2013, a lifelong goal for the First Team All-American.
