Sept. 2, 2008

Sacred Heart University head women's basketball coach Ed Swanson announced the hiring of Lauren Hall-Gregory as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2008-09 season. Hall-Gregory replaces Heather Vulin who left last month to accept the same position at Villanova University.

"We are excited to announce the hiring of Lauren to our coaching staff," stated the 19-year head coach. "Lauren comes from a well respected program at Lehigh University. The experience she gained there as a coach and as a player at Hofstra we believe will help to maintain the standard of success both on and off the court we have enjoyed here at Sacred Heart."

Hall-Gregory spent the last two seasons as a graduate assistant coach for Lehigh University where she also worked with the guard positions as well as overseeing academic progress.

She graduated from Hofstra University in 2003 where she captained the Pride for three years. In her senior year, Hall-Gregory was just one of two players who started in all of the Pride's games. Her collegiate career was filled with leading marks, including being the Pride's assist leader for three consecutive years. Hall-Gregory currently has several marks still on Hofstra's record books including the fourth-highest career assist total with 454 and the 10th-highest career made three-point field goals with 63. Under individual season records, her 161 (2000-01) and 152 (2001-02) assists rank sixth and ninth, respectively. Hall-Gregory received the Colonial Athletic Association's All-Academic award in 2002 and 2003, Hofstra's MVP award in 2001 and the Coaches Selection award in 2003.

After taking two years off from basketball, Hall-Gregory returned to the court as an assistant coach at the College of Saint Mary's in Nebraska. While there, she played a supporting role in helping the Flames to the Sweet Sixteen round of the 2006 NAIA Division II Tournament.
