Sacred Heart vs. Monmouth Post Game Quotes
Head Coach Ed Swanson
On today's win: "It wasn't a great offensive showing today, but our defense was great since Monmouth came in averaging about 68 points per game. The girls just gutted another one out."
On playing without Kerri Burke: "We need to stop using that excuse. She's an experienced senior guard and most of our other guards aren't as experienced. Monmouth did a great defensive job and they took us out of our rhythm, and other people had to step up.
On Burke's official injury status: "Kerri has an ACL injury and is in a three week intensive rehabilitation period, and after that she'll try to give it a go. I wouldn't bet against her because that's that type of kid she is."
Senior guard Amanda Pape
On her game today: "It was a good win today. I think we played the press well because it tends to wear on the other team."
On team's mindset: "We are winning close games and obviously that says a lot about our toughness as a team."
Senior forward Jasmine Walker
On offensive scheme: "When it comes to our offense, there may always be a standout, but our points come from the team as a whole and we play as a team together. Today was no different because everyone got involved and everyone stepped up."
On Monmouth's comeback following a 15-0 Pioneers run to start the game: "It was definitely a struggle to regain our composure after that run, but we were able to when it counted. It was my job today to step up as the senior leader, and Amanda did that as well."
