    Sacred Heart Women’s Basketball Head Coach Jessica Mannetti recently attended the 2014 Center for Coaching Excellence, which concluded on June 11, at Columbia University. Mannetti was one of 36 collegiate women’s basketball coaches that completed the invitation-only, two-and-a-half day elite leadership program.

    Gabrielle Washington broke the 31-year-old single-game scoring record lighting up the scoreboard with 47 points as the Sacred Heart women’s basketball team lost the double-overtime battle to Saint Francis U 132-124 in the quarterfinal of the Northeast Conference Tournament. The Pioneers, who finish the season 12-18, set the single game scoring record scoring more than 100 points for the first time since 1985.

Now a three-time All-NEC honoree, Gabrielle Washington (Mesa, Ariz.) was named to the All-NEC first team, while Adaysha Williams (LaCrosse, Wis.) and Hannah Kimmel (Harpursville, N.Y.) earned spots on the All-Rookie team.

SHU finishes the regular season 12-17 and 9-9 in Northeast Conference play.

The loss drops Sacred Heart sixth place in the Northeast Conference with an 8-8 conference record.

    The Sacred Heart women’s basketball team snapped a four-game losing streak Monday night with the 77-53 defeat of St. Francis Brooklyn in the William H. Pitt Center. For the second time this season, Sacred Heart saw two players eclipse the 20-point marker Gabrielle Washington (Mesa, Ariz.) led all players with 27 points flirting with a double-double with nine rebounds. Red-shirt sophomore Hannah Kimmel (Harpursville, N.Y.) tallied a new career-high of 24 points shooting 60.0% from the field as Sacred Heart improves to 11-14 overall, and 8-6 in Northeast Conference play.

With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 7-6 in Northeast Conference play, and 10-14 overall.
