FAIRFIELD, CT (August 30, 2004) - Sacred Heart University men and women's cross country head coach Christian Morrison announced his captains for the upcoming 2004 season this afternoon. The women will have three captains for the coming year in senior Jaclyn Donatelli (Scituate, RI) and juniors Erin Kulasewski (West Warwick, RI) and Jenna Pisani (Vernon, NJ) while senior Michael Hannon (Stony Point, NY) and junior Tyler Arnett (Clinton Corners, NY) will captain the Pioneer men's squad.
Kulasewski was consistently one of the Pioneers top runners last season, with her best finish of the season coming at the Fairfield University Invitational. She ran her best time of the season at the New England Championships, clocking in with a time of 20:20.9 and just missed a spot on the All-Northeast Conference team by finishing 15th at the league's championship race. Donatelli has come into her own both on the cross country course and on the track. She finished a season-best 30th at the Fairfield race a year ago while also running her best time of the year at New England's (21:16). Pisani also had her top-finish of the year in the Fairfield Invitational with a 28th place finish while also running her top time at the New England race at 20:51.
Arnett followed up a strong rookie campaign with an equally impressive sophomore effort. The junior had his top-finish of the year at the Fairfield Invitational race, recording a 10th-place finish. His top time came at the New England Championship with a time of 27:11. Hannon also notched hit best finish of the 2003 season at Fairfield, clocking in at 29:40.9 for an 18th place finish. His top time was 28:28 at the New England meet.
Both Pioneer teams will open the 2004 season on Saturday, September 11th, at the Fordham University Invitational.
