Fairfield, CT - Sacred Heart's Ryan Murdoch (Salem, CT) placed second in the 47th annual Ocean Beach/John J. Kelley Road Race Saturday in New London. The 11.6 mile road race took runners from New London to Waterford.

Murdoch, a senior on the Sacred Heart men's cross country team, posted a time 1:03:52, just 50 seconds behind the winner. Sacred Heart head coach Christian Morrison also took part in the race, the 34th straight year he has run in the event.

"It's awesome," Murdoch said after the race. "The field was pretty deep this year. It's always nice to see the local guys come through in the end."
