Sacred Heart University Wins Back-to-Back NEC Commissioner's Cups

For the second-consecutive year, the Sacred Heart University athletic program has been awarded the Northeast Conference Commissioner's Cup winning the 2008-09 title on the strength of five league championships this season. In addition, SHU won the NEC Women's Cup Championship for the third-straight year and for the first time in program history won the NEC Men's Cup Championship as well. [+]

Cross CountryJones, Kenworthy Named NEC Scholar-AthletesSeniors John Kenworthy (Gloversville, NY) of the men's cross country team and Matt Jones (Stoke-on-Trent, England) of the men's soccer team have been named Northeast Conference Scholar Athletes in their respective sports. Cross CountryMen's Cross Country Finishes Third in NEC Championship RaceSacred Heart earned a third place finish in the NEC championship behind a second place performance from senior John Kenworthy (Gloversville, NY). Kenworthy's time of 26:33 garnered him All-NEC honors for the second time in his career. Junior Brendan Rickert (Danbury, CT) also posted a top 15 performance for the Pioneers clocking in at 27:26. 10/30/2008 - M. Cross CountryNEC Cross Country Champions to be Decided this WeekendThe NEC will hold its annual cross country championship race Saturday in Holmdel, NJ. The Pioneer men and women are both expected to finish near the top of the field after their impressive fall campaigns. The 2008 men's team now features the top three runners in school history.
