BRONX, NY (November 22, 2003) - The Sacred Heart men and women's cross-country teams closed out the 2003 season at the ECAC / IC4A Championship at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, NY, Saturday afternoon. Three Pioneers seniors, running their final races for the SHU cross-country team, finished their careers on a high note, earning All-East honors. Seniors Katie Wrinkle (Medford, NY), Suzanne Neglia (Andover, NJ) and Matt Uzenski (Oceanside, NY) all finished in the top-25 to take home the honor.
For the women, Wrinkle wrapped up her stellar cross-country career with a third-place finish and also breaking the Van Cortlandt track record by a Pioneer runner. Wrinkle clocked in at 18:40, topping her previous personal best on the course. For the year, she recorded five top-five finishes and finished in the top-12 in all but one race. Neglia finished 17th on the day with a time of 19:22, a season-best time for her on this course.
Rounding on the Pioneer's top-seven runners were senior Christina Mendoza (Union City, NJ) in 54th (20:26), freshman Anne Duffy (Monroe, CT) in 65th (20:42), sophomore Erin Kulasewski (West Warwick, RI) in 70th (20:56), freshman Kathleen Duffy (Monroe, CT) in 71st (20:57) and senior Erin Roche (Stony Point, NY) in 84th (21:20). The Pioneers finished sixth overall as a team out of 15 teams.
For the men, Uzenski ran the course in a personal-best time of 26:36 to finish 18th. His time set's a new SHU record for fastest time on the Van Cortlandt Park course. Sophomore Tyler Arnett (Clinton Corners, NY) followed Uzenski's performance with the second-fastest time by a Pioneer on this course, clocking in at 27:10. He just missed All-East honors with a 30th place finish.

Sophomore Robert Howard (Levittown, NY) finished 41st (27:32), sophomore Robert Gill (Braintree, MA) was 47th (27:44), freshman Timothy Larson (Smithfield, RI) finished 70th (28:33), senior Andrew Renna (Danbury, CT) 74th (28:43) and senior Joseph Zalak (Middle Village, NY) was 77th (28:50) to round out the Pioneer top-seven. Sacred Heart finished sixth overall among 12 teams to close the season.
