Fairfield, CT- Sacred Heart earned a third place finish in the NEC championship behind a second place performance from senior John Kenworthy (Gloversville, NY). Kenworthy’s time of 26:33 garnered him All-NEC honors for the second time in his career. Junior Brendan Rickert (Danbury, CT) also posted a top 15 performance for the Pioneers clocking in at 27:26. Luis German (Southampton, NY) and Andrew Houghtalen (West Charlton, NY) earned top 25 finishes for Sacred Heart. German came in 22nd place crossing the tape in 27:50 while sophomore Houghtalen was 25th clocking in at 27:57. Taylor Dressman (Brooklyn, NY), who posted the fastest time by a freshman in school history this season, was the Pioneers fifth finisher with a time of 28:15. The Sacred Heart top 7 was filled by Matthew Chorney (Bristol, NH) and Richard Marcello (Foster, RI) who posted identical times of 28:19. The Pioneers edged out Monmouth for fourth place by only two points and had a better overall time by a mere three seconds. Quinnipiac won the meet capturing its third consecutive NEC championship, placing five runners in the top 20. This is the second year in a row the Pioneers have finished third in the Northeast Conference Championship race.
