HAMDEN, CT (October 30, 2004) - The Sacred Heart women's cross country team placed fourth while sophomore Katie Duffy (Monroe, CT) earned all-conference honors at the 2004 Northeast Conference Cross Country Championship held Saturday afternoon at Quinnipiac University. The men took 10th place overall.
Duffy clocked in at 19:19.7, good for a fifth place finish and All-NEC honors for the first time in her young career. The top-14 runners in both races earn all-league honors.
The trio of junior Kaitlin Clark, sophomore Anne Duffy and junior Erin Kulasewski all finished right behind each other in 20th through 22nd place. Clark was 20th with a time of 20:01.1 with Duffy and Kulasewski nipping at her heels with times of 20:02.2 and 20:02.5. Right behind this Pioneer trio was junior Jenna Pisani who finished 24th with a time of 20:03.2
Rounding out SHU's top-seven were juniors Katelyn Botsford in 37th (20:34.0) and Ann Regan in 39th (20:38.1).
For the men, junior Tyler Arnett finished 34th overall as the Pioneers top runner, clocking in at 27:55.3. Fellow junior Robert Howard was 49th in a time of 28:34.6. Rounding out the SHU top-seven were junior Robert Gill in 54th (28:56.2), sophomore Robert McDermott in 59th (29:11.9), freshman James Daly in 66th (29:34.9), sophomore Timothy Larson 72nd (30:21.8), freshman Stephen Zito in 73rd (30:25.4) and freshman Joseph Modarski in 83rd (31:26.1)

The St. Francis (PA) women won their fourth-straight NEC title with a two-point victory over Quinnipiac, 54-56. On the men's side, host Quinnipiac took the top-spot with 29 points over the second place Red Flash with 39, ending their run of five-straight league championships.
