BOSTON, MA (October 9, 2004) - The Sacred Heart men and women's cross country teams competed at the New England Championships Friday afternoon in Franklin Park in Boston, MA. The women finished 24th among 45 teams with two runners recording personal best times while the men finished 37th out of 48 squads with three season best times.
On the women's side, junior Jenna Pisani (Vernon, NJ) was the Pioneers top finisher clocking in at a personal best time of 19:13 over the 5K course for a 64th place finish. Sophomore Katie Duffy (Monroe, CT) came in 97th crossing the line in a time of 19:35.
Junior Erin Kulasewski (West Warwick, RI) turned in a time of 20:11 to finish 153rd. Sophomore Anne Duffy (Monroe, CT) ran her best race of the season, clocking in at 20:32 (174th). Freshman Margarita Landelius (New Haven, CT) recorded a time of 20:42, junior Ann Regan (Westfield, MA) had a personal best time at 20:52 (199th) and junior Kaitlin Clark (Babylon, NY) rounded out the SHU seven with a time of 21:00 (220).
For the men, junior Tyler Arnett (Clinton Corners, NY) once again finished as the Pioneers top runner. Arnett clocked in at a season-best time of 27:20 in 151st. Also notching season-best times were junior Robert Howard (Levittown, NY) and sophomore Robert McDermott (Lindenhurst, NY). Howard ran the course in a time of 27:50 (191st) while McDermott finished up in 28:49 (243rd). Robert Gill (Braintree, MA) ran a time of 28:28 (229th), senior Michael Hannon (Stony Point, NY) notched a time of 29:18 (263rd), freshman Joseph Mordarski (Greenlawn, NY) clocked in at 29:25 (269th) and sophomore Timothy Larson (Smithfield, RI) round out SHU's top-seven runners at 29:59 (289th).

Both Pioneer teams return to action on Saturday, October 23rd when the take part in the Collegiate Track Conference Championship in Center Valley, PA.
